September is National Chicken Month? Yep, you read that right, National Chicken Month is a real thing. I decided I’d celebrate the “holiday” by hitting the gym this month and stacking my plate with chicken breast after chicken breast, hoping to gain a little bit of lean body mass with the help of Home Chef meal delivery kits.

In ringing in National Chicken Month, I thought I’d share and describe some of my favorite chicken-based meals from Home Chef. I made sure that every meal I list below is available on Home Chef’s September of 2021 menu, so readers can sign up for their favorites.

To shake it up a little, I end my review by discussing Home Chef’s protein-packed meal extras. It’d be pretty hard to stay hungry with all of Home Chef’s options.

My Chicken-Based, September Favorites

Without further ado, here are my favorite Home Chef chicken dishes:

Cheesy Poblano Stuffed Chicken and Chipotle Lime Crema: After a long, boring day at the office, this poblano stuffed chicken was the perfect way to spice up my evening. A delicious combo of creaminess and heat, the powerful flavor of the chicken paired well with the mild side of squash elote.

15-Minute One-Pan Cheddar Chicken and Broccoli Skillet: Sometimes, you just don’t have the time to cook a delicious meal. Luckily, Home Chef's 15-Minute Meals let you cheat the system. I cooked this savory broccoli and chicken bowl in about 15 minutes flat!

Chicken Satay Lettuce Wraps: Have you ever been so hungry that you just had to eat before the gym? This off-the-skewer satay curbed my appetite but stayed light enough for me to work up a sweat during my evening lift!

Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast (a la carte): I just know I’m going to get dragged out to a tapas restaurant this month with my parents, and I especially know that I’m going to come home ravenously hungry. With a la carte protein options from Home Chef, I can pack in my protein and fill up on nights where my regular meal just doesn’t quite cut it.

Panko Crusted Ranch Chicken and Hot Honey Butter: After a light lunch and a hard workout, I know I’m going to want to treat myself with some Southern comfort. This honey butter chicken is a cozy combo of sweet and savory, sure to make you wish you ordered two.

Everything Chopped Salad & Chicken: I try to go for a run once a week—to help me survive the endeavor, I like to eat light the night before. This everything salad was perfectly light, but it also came with two chicken breasts to help me maintain my protein goals.

Honey-Ginger Chicken Katsu: I love the flavor of American-style fried chicken, but it tends to be too heavy for me on exercise days. This Japanese-inspired chicken katsu is lightly breaded, so I get the comfort of fried chicken without the sluggish aftermath.

Oven-Ready Chicken Stroganoff Ziti with Zucchini: I feel like I’m always cleaning up after my roommates in the kitchen. After hand-washing another long-forgotten bowl, the last thing I want to do is deal with my own dishes. With Home Chef oven-ready meals, I can throw all the ingredients into one pan, bake it in the oven, and be ready to eat in 30 minutes. Afterwards, I think I’ll leave out the pan for my roommates to clean this time around…

My Favorite Protein-Packed Meal Extras

If you’re anything like me, you just never have enough time in the day. To save time on cooking and cleaning, I usually order a handful of Home Chef meal extras each week. Here are my must-haves:

Breakfast

Egg, Uncured Bacon, and Cheese Burrito: When it’s time for a big breakfast, this burrito from Home Chef is my first choice. With enough fresh egg, juicy bacon, and flavorful cheese to fuel me till dinner, these burritos are a great way to start a busy day.

Lunch

Sausage and Buttermilk Biscuits: I admit it: lunch foods just aren’t really my thing. Maybe that’s why I spice up the afternoon with these savory sausage biscuits, the ideal breakfast-for-lunch meal and a great protein boost for my day.

Four-Cheese Pepperoni Pizza:
Okay, I might have just said that lunch isn’t my thing, but, come on, pizza? Pizza’s everybody’s thing. Pizza extras from Home Chef are a super-easy way to pack in the protein while still keeping my lunch tasty.

Final Thoughts

I think this September’s going to be a success. Even if I fail to meet my lofty lifting goals, I’ll get to enjoy an entire month’s worth of protein-packed chicken meals and delicious meal extras. Winner winner, chicken dinner.
